WI 8th Inf Co I. Residence: Ettrick, Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. Born Dec 1833 in Bergen, Norway. Civil War: Laborer. Age 27. Blue eyes, light brown hair, fair complexion, 5’3”. Enlisted for one year on 27 Aug 1864 at La Crosse, Wisconsin, and mustered there the same day. Bounty $100. Enrollment credited to Galesville, Wisconsin. Recruit. Private. Wounded in the battle of Nashville, Tennessee, on 16 Dec 1864. Post war: In March 1868 while living in Rockport, Hanson County, Dakota Territory, he was granted a pension of $4 a month because of a wound to his left hip. Died of heart trouble at age 57 on 19 Mar 1890 and is buried in Green Hill Cemetery at Alexandria, South Dakota, lot 19, block 1, grave H.
