Civil War: Age 36. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 21 Oct 1861 at Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and was mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, on 14 Jan 1862. Commissioned Second Lieutenant on 14 Jan 1862. Sick at Birds Point, Missouri. Sick in Nashville, Tennessee, since 21 Sep 1862 and left behind there on 26 Nov 1862. Became unfit for service and resigned 15 Nov 1863 at Chattanooga, Tennessee.
