SIME, Knud Iversen

WI 15th Inf Co H. Residence: Cambridge, Dane County, Wisconsin. Born at Voss, Hordaland, Norway, 28 Jan 1834, the son of Iver Knudsen Sime, a non-commissioned officer, and Anna Davidsdatter Mølster. Edlen P. Sime was his foster brother. Knud and his parents came to America aboard the “Olaf Kjerre”, which sailed from Bergen and arrived in New York 22 Jun 1846. They came to Christiania Township, Dane County. Civil War: Age 27. Commissioned a Captain on 11 Feb 1862 with rank from 18 Jan 1862. Began active service in Madison, Wisconsin, 13 Feb 1862. He recruited most of Company H. Led his company in the siege of Mississippi River Island No. 10. Resigned there on 3 May 1862, by special order number 15 from General Halleck. Post war: Married. He moved to Chicago, Illinois. Died at a young age following injuries.
