Wounded at Chickamauga, Georgia, and sent from the battlefield to the camp hospital on 19 Sep 1863. Died of chronic diarrhea at U. S. General Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, 4 Dec 1863. Buried in Chattanooga National Cemetery; section D, grave 151. He is on the Roll of Honor of the 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 20th Army Corps.
