WI 15th Inf Co K. Residence: Winneshiek County, Iowa. Born “Ole Thompsen Rogan” on 10 Aug 1841 at Vang, Valders, Norway, the son of a blacksmith, Thomas Rogan, and Dorst Olesdatter. Came to America in 1857 to Winneshiek County. Civil War: Age 21. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 17 Jan 1862 in Winneshiek County and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 11 Feb 1862. Private. Was with the Pioneer Corps in November 1862. Sick in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in September 1864. Promoted to Corporal, 1 Oct 1864. Said to have seen action in 14 encounters with the enemy. Mustered out with Company K at Chattanooga, 10 Feb 1865. Post war: Lived after the war near Twin Valley, Minnesota. Married in 1866 to Mrs. Ingeborg Skiem (Skeim) [1844-1932]. Seven children, two born in Iowa, five in Norman County, Minnesota. In 1873, they moved to Flom Township, Norman County. In 1892, he was living in Fossum, Norman County, Minnesota. Died 31 Dec 1918. Buried at Wild Rice Lutheran churchyard, Norman County.
