Immigrated to the U.S. with parents in 1853 and settled in Clinton, Rock County, WI. Civil War: Age 18 (volunteered at age 17, lying about his age of 18). Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 2 Dec 1861 at Beloit and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 13 Dec 1861. Private. Was with the provision transport from Stevenson, Alabama, in October 1863. Killed, shot through his head, at New Hope Church, Georgia, 27 May 1864.
