MN Lt Arty 2nd Battery Co I. Residence: Dakota County, Minnesota. Born in Homan, Rauland, Vinje, Telemark, Norway, a brother to Civil War soldiers Kittle and Talleff Torgerson. They came to America in 1859 to Dakota County, Minnesota, near Farmington. All three were married. Civil War: Age 38. Enrolled 26 Aug 1864. Mustered 5 Sep 1864. Recruit. Private. Discharged from the service with the Battery, 16 Aug 1865. Moved to the Turtle Mountain area near Bottineau, Bottineau County, North Dakota. Died 14 Oct 1908 and is buried in Vinje Cemetery in Bottineau County.
