MN 9th Inf Co E. Born 30 Sep 1831 at Voss, Norway, son of Sjur Sjursen Ulvund and Brita Davidsdatter Skjervheim. He came to America with his parents and a sister, Brithe, on “Wilhelm”, which sailed from Gothenburg, Sweden, and arrived in New York on 17 Aug 1837. They came to Chicago, Illinois, and moved by 1841 to Wayne Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin. He was married to Sarah. Later they moved to Elysian Township, LeSueur County, Minnesota.
