US Army Volunteers. Born in Gotland, Sweden. Civil War: Enlisted at New York, New York. Major and Aide-de-Camp. Awarded the Medal of Honor. At Gaines Mill, Virginia, on 27 Jun 1862, while voluntarily serving as aide-de-camp, he successfully and advantageously charged the position of troops under fire.
