Enlisted for three years on 17 Feb 1864 at La Crosse, Wisconsin. Mustered there the same day. Private. Recruit. Came to the 15th Regiment at Strawberry Plains, Virginia, near the end of March 1864. Transferred to Company H on 1 Dec 1864. Assigned temporarily to the 24th Infantry. Transferred to Company I, WI 13th Infantry, 10 Jun 1865. Mustered out 24 Nov 1865 at San Antonio, Texas. Later served as a Captain in the Wisconsin State Militia. Died at age 67 on 29 Mar 1911 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Buried there in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, lot 11, block 33, grave W ½.
