US Navy. Born 1845 in Norway. No War: Enlisted from California. Captain of the Hold. Awarded the Medal of Honor for jumping overboard from the “U.S.S. Lackawanna” on 16 Mar 1883 at Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii, and rescuing from drowning Thomas Moran, landsman. Awarded a second Medal of Honor, while serving on the “U.S.S.
