Louise Lysne (1905-2003) learned rosemaling from her father-in-law, Per Lysne of Stoughton, Wisconsin, who is considered the father of American rosemaling. Louise was one of only a few students Per Lysne ever taught and would hold her hands until she learned the brush control he wanted her to use. Louise painted in Milwaukee and the Ozarks.
