Hand-carved standard heddle with 26 slots and 27 holes for weaving narrow bands. Three cutout circular forms crown top and provide hand grasp. Chip carving on upper and lower crossbars.
Carved for aunt of donor’s mother, Marte Ellingsdatter Fidkje. Marte and her husband, Jorgen Hansen Sande emigrated from Sogn to a farm north of Decorah, Iowa in 1865.
