WI 15th Inf Co D. Residence: Bloomfield, Walworth County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Age 19. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 17 Nov 1861 at Berlin, Wisconsin, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 8 Dec 1861. Private. On 3 Jun 1862, he was reported to be sick and on furlough. Was given leave and was sick in Berlin, Wisconsin, 30 Mar to 30 Apr 1863. After his leave was up, he stayed home expecting a discharge. But he was arrested as a deserter and delivered to Camp Randall in Madison. He was sick in a hospital on 2 Jul 1864, and was mustered out with D Company at Chattanooga, Tennessee, on 13 Feb 1865. The War Department on 14 Apr 1887 reported that the accusation against him that he was a deserter had been dropped.
