He came to America on the “Statsraad Vogt”, which sailed from Bergen and arrived in New York on 8 Aug 1845. He went to LaGrange township, Walworth County, Wisconsin. He married Synneva (Susan) Olsdatter Gjerdager. Four children. Civil War: Farmer. Age 43. Blue eyes, light hair, fair complexion, 5’5”. Enlisted for three years on 23 Mar 1864 at Whitewater, Wisconsin. Mustered 31 Mar 1864 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Joined Company D on 24 May 1864.
