WI 28th Inf Co D. Residence: Palmyra, Jefferson County, Wisconsin. Born 5 Nov 1818 in Voss, Hordaland, Norway, son of Amund Bjornesen Hefte and Guri Jonsdatter Dagestad. He came to America on the “Statsraad Vogt”, which sailed from Bergen and arrived in New York on 8 Aug 1845. He went to LaGrange township, Walworth County, Wisconsin. He married Synneva (Susan) Olsdatter Gjerdager. Four children. Civil War: Farmer. Age 43. Blue eyes, light hair, fair complexion, 5’5”. Enlisted for three years on 23 Mar 1864 at Whitewater, Wisconsin. Mustered 31 Mar 1864 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Joined Company D on 24 May 1864.
