WI 15th Inf Co E. Residence: Coon Prairie, Bad Ax County, Wisconsin. Born “Simen Amundsen Ovren” in 1830, son of Amund Olsen Ovren and Synnøv Simensdatter Borud. Came to America in 1852. Civil War: Age 27. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 23 Oct 1861 at La Crosse, Wisconsin. Mustered 10 Dec 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin. Corporal. Left sick in Bowling Green, Kentucky, 4 Nov 1862. Missing from a train on 20 Sep 1863, at Dug Gap, Georgia. He had been taken prisoner by the enemy. He died in Libby prison, Richmond, Virginia, date unknown.
