WI 6th Inf Co B. Residence: Portland, Monroe County, Wisconsin. Born in Norway. Civil War: Farmer. Married. Age 39. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’9”. Drafted. Enrolled for one year on 20 Sep 1864 at La Crosse, Wisconsin. Mustered there the same day. Private. Joined Company B on 27 Nov 1864. Took part in the battles of Hatcher’s Run, Virginia, 5-7 Feb 1865; Gravelly Run, Virginia, 1 Apr 1865, and Five Forks, Virginia, 1 Apr 1865, and he was said to be at the surrender of General Lee. Anderson was sent to Harewood Hospital in Washington DC on 20 Apr 1865, and he died there of typhoid fever on 19 May 1865. Buried in National Cemetery at Arlington, Virginia.
