ANDERSON, Andrew

MN 10th Inf Co E. Residence: Manchester, Freeborn County, Minnesota. Born in Bragernes, Buskerud, Norway, 27 Jan 1820. Came to America, to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in October 1853, and to Freeborn County, Minnesota, in 1857. Wife was Gloria Olson of Hartland. Their teen-age son, Ole, had enlisted earlier in 1862. Civil War: Age 43. Enrolled 18 Aug 1862. Mustered 13 Oct 1862. Private. Discharged from the service 20 May 1865, absent from his unit at time of discharge. Apparently he was in a hospital. Post war: He died 5 Nov 1866, weakened, it was said, by the “severe life and many hardships endured in the army”. Buried in Bancroft Central church cemetery.
