ANDERSON, Andrew

NY 100th Inf Co I. Residence: Door County, Wisconsin. Born in Norway, son of Nils and Anne Anderson Westman. The couple and four children came to America in 1853 and settled on the south shore of Little Sister Bay, Door County. Civil War: Age 17. Little known of his military career. A letter, written by Red Cross founder Clara Barton to Andrew’s mother, told of the name “A. Anderson 100 New York Volunteer Army” on a list of Union Soldiers buried at Andersonville prison.
