WI 12th Inf Co E. Residence: Upper Coon Valley, Vernon County, Wisconsin. Born “Augustinus Andersen Paulhougen”on 14 Mar 1846 at Østre Gausdal, Oppland, Norway, son of Anders Andersen Myrmellom and Marthe Martinsdatter Paulhougen. He came to America with his parents and a sister on “Flora”, which sailed from Christiania on 15 Jun 1849 and arrived in New York on 23 Aug 1849. They came to Crawford County, Wisconsin. His mother died within a year and he then lived with the Amund Martinsen Paulhougen family in Coon Prairie, Vernon County. Civil War: Farmer. Age 18. Unmarried. Blue eyes, brown hair, fair complexion, 5’7”. Enrolled for one year on 13 Oct 1864 at La Crosse, Wisconsin, as a substitute for Helje Gulbianson of Coon, Vernon County. Mustered the same day. Private. Died of chronic diarrhea on 14 Feb 1865 at Savannah, Georgia.
