WI 4th Cav Co G. Residence: Rush River, St. Croix County, Wisconsin. Born “Gilbert Anderson Reiton” on 14 Dec 1839 in Falebu, Gudbrandsdalen, Norway, a son of Anders Reiton and Karen. Came to America in 1848. Civil War: Farmer. Age 23. Unmarried. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’6”. Enlisted for three years on 4 Jan 1864 at Hudson, Wisconsin. Mustered 17 Feb 1864 at Madison, Wisconsin. Recruit. Private. In hospital at Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana. Discharged from the service on 28 May 1866 for disability due to illness. Post war: Lived in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. Died 22 Jan 1923 at Rush River. Buried at Baldwin, St. Croix County.
