WI 17th Inf Co C. Residence: Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin. Born in Norway. Civil War: Farmer. Age 18. Blue eyes, fair hair, fair complexion, 5’2”. Enlisted for three years on 3 Feb 1862 at Madison, Wisconsin. And mustered there the same day as a company musician. Private. Re-enlisted as a Veteran for three years on 4 Feb 1864 at Vicksburg, Mississippi. Re-mustered the same day. A muster roll in March 1865 lists him as having deserted near Goldsboro 18 Mar 1865. In April 1865, he was retained by civil authorities at Frederick City, Missouri. The April 1865 muster roll shows him absent from the company. He apparently had been captured near Jonesboro, North Carolina, on 28 Feb 1865. Mustered out 25 May 1865, final discharge on 31 Jul 1865 at Madison, Wisconsin.
