WI 15th Inf Co A. Residence: Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin. Born at Hagebustad, Norway. Came to America with his parents, his brother, his wife and two children. Civil War: Married. Enlisted for three years on 29 Oct 1861 at Madison. Mustered there 15 Nov 1861. Private. Wounded severely in the battle of Stone’s River, Tennessee, 31 Dec 1862, and sent to hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Sick in Stevenson, Alabama, since 27 Aug 1863. Transferred to Invalid Corps (name changed to Veterans Reserve Corps) on 1 Sep 1863, per orders from Major General Rosecrans. Post war: Married to Tobine Dybvig (?).
