WI 15th Inf Co K. Residence: Winneshiek County, Iowa. Born 14 May 1821 in Sogn, Norway. Civil War: Age 40. Farmer. Married. Blue eyes, dark hair, light complexion, 5’8”. Enlisted for three years on 27 Feb 1862 in Winneshiek County and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 1 Mar 1862. Private. Sick in Bowling Green, Kentucky, in November 1862. Transferred to Veterans Reserve Corps 15 Oct 1863. Mustered out at Louisville, Kentucky, 27 Feb 1865, his term of enlistment having expired. Post war: In 1886, he was living at Ridgeway, Iowa. This may be the man known as “Store Kittel”, said to have come from Telemark. Died 25 Dec 1910. Buried at United Lutheran, Ridgeway.
