Born 1828 in Hardanger, Norway. Came to America in 1857 to Spring Grove, Minnesota. In 1864 he married Guri Rue. Civil War: Enlisted two weeks after his marriage. Private. Served 14 months. Post war: Lived at Spring Grove. Six children. He died at age 84. Buried in Wilmington Cemetery near Spring Grove.
