WI 50th Inf Co K. Residence: Strong’s Prairie, Adams County, Wisconsin. Born 9 Jun 1841 in Sogn, Norway, son of Gens O. Stevens and Ragnild Olsdatter Stevens. Immigrated to the US with his parents at the age of four. Civil War: Farmer. Age 24. Gray eyes, brown hair, dark complexion, 5’7½”. Enlisted (by Capt. Cooper) for one year on 8 Apr 1865 at La Crosse, Wisconsin. Mustered there the same day. Bounty $100, $33.33 paid. Private. Served in Indian and Civil wars. Promoted to Corporal. Transferred here from the WI 53rd Inf. Post war: Family moved to Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Married first wife Helen Glaim on 10 Jan 1868, married second wife Mary Larson in 1881. In 1907, he was living in Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Died 5 Dec 1928. Buried East Yellow Medicine Lutheran Cemetery. Brother of Stephen J. Stevens.
